Earlier this week we perused the headlines to see what shenanigans took place during Black Friday. (Most of us here at AG stay at home on purpose that day...) When what to our wondering eyes did appear?! Headlines talking about gun sales so high they could arm the entire Marine Corps of course. The FBI reported 202,465 background checks were initiated on the day of deals, all in correlation with an 'attempted' gun purchase. Now, this may not mean that every single background check resulted in a 100% purchase, but it's going to be close. This was also the second highest day ever. The most guns ever purchased in a single day was 203,086 in 2017. So, so close. As of 2017, there were 186,000 men and women who were serving on active duty in the Marine Corps. That means there were probably more than enough guns purchased to field the USMC.The background check done is the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. On the FBI's website, it says "That background check verifies the buyer does not have a criminal record or isn't otherwise ineligible to purchase or own a firearm." You can check out more, here. And while there is always constant controversy over the 2nd amendment, we clearly and proudly support the right to bear arms. So we also think it's pretty cool that many firearms were potentially purchased. The other part to take into account is the fact that once one check is done, you could potentially purchase multiple firearms at a time. That also depends on your local state laws and potentially the location you are purchasing from.So while we didn't go outside of our house on Black Friday and face the crazie.... er... we mean.... eccentric customers.... we kind of wish we would have now. After all, who doesn't need an addition!? Ya know, for hunting purposes of course!
