Never want to counter the words of General Mattis. However, his words of “Marines don’t know how to spell the word defeat”. I don’t see how the U.S or the USMC can justly declare we have won anything in Afghanistan or Iraq. All I see is $1 Trillion spent and almost 5,000 U.S lives lost with no benefit to the U,S whatsoever.
As I have said before the only winners I see are Boeing, General Dynamics and the other Defense Contractors.
I hope someone can prove me wrong and lift my spirits on that one. .
Its like vietnam man, we’ve won every battle, the politicians lost the war. We, as soldiers and Marines should walk away with our heads held high, knowing that we won every engagement of arms. We should however, be outraged that the 1%ers in Washington forced us to stay on a leash and leave once they had plundered these places for all they were worth, and left the indigenous armies to fight an enemy that they wouldn’t beat, with depleted funding and backing. Shameful
