Crazy Homesteader Destroys Dangerous Wasp Nest With Shotgun [Video]
Categories: Video

Sometimes, the best way to get rid of a dangerous wasp hive is to blast it with birdshot.
Youtuber Wranglerstar did just that in this video uploaded in September. The homesteader, whose real name is Cody Crone, is a survivalist, homesteader, wildland firefighter and youtube mini-celebrity known for his videos on home-made tools, felling massive trees and life in the rural Pacific Northwest.
In 2006 he and his wife packed up and moved to the Oregon woods, where they sought property to build a new life on. Their requirements were simple: a reliable water source independent from municipal sources, a climate for growing their own food, a large enough forest for building materials, and a defensible property far from cities.
They eventually achieved all of that, and now chronicle their daily lives in videos posted to Wranglerstar’s channel.
This video was taken mostly by drone by Cody’s son. The wasp nest needed to be removed because Crone’s wife is highly allergic to the species. Furthermore, they sting everything without bringing anything productive to the homestead, unlike honeybees.
Watch the video below:

He is not a very good homesteader. That’s not a wasp’s nest. It’s a Hornet’s nest, and Hornet’s kill wasps. In fact, they do not like to travel far from their nest, so if he had traveled around the Hornet’s nest, at a reasonable distance, they would take care of all the Wasps in their territory for him and his wife. — They don’t come back the nest year, so he could have saved the Hornet’s nest itself, cut it open and had some great science stuff to show his son. — It’s really sad he did not look this up first. — And yes, I do know what I’m talking about. I’m not some city girl hipster, who likes Hornets. I’m a real country girl, who is HIGHLY allergic to wasps and I use nature to take care of itself. – He really messed up on this one.
