One Shot, One Kill! The Sniper Shot Record Has Been Broken!

The record for the World’s Longest Sniper Shot has officially been broken!
The title was previously held by Craig Harrison, a British sniper, who’s record was 2,475 meters. He used a 338 Lapua Magnum rifle in 2009, killing a Taliban gunner.
The new record holder hasn’t been named, but it has been reported that they are a member of Canada’s Elite Special Forces under Joint Task Force 2. The weapon used was a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle, which put an end to an Islamic State insurgent at 3,540 meters–over a thousand meters more than Harrison’s record. It took less than 10 seconds for the bullet to impact.
“The shot in question actually disrupted a Daesh [Islamic State] attack on Iraqi security forces,” said a military source, who stressed the operation fell within the strictures of the government’s advise and assist mission. “Instead of dropping a bomb that could potentially kill civilians in the area, it is a very precise application of force and because it was so far way, the bad guys didn’t have a clue what was happening.”
