You eat healthy, you exercise, you seem to be doing everything right, but you’re still putting on some extra meat around the middle? How could this be happening? You’re Not Drinking Enough Water
Water is essential for fat loss. It’s quite literally found in every cell of the body and is needed for so many processes.
Water can help to control your appetite and it can also aid in weight loss. A recent study performed by the University of Utah has found that people who drink two glasses of water before eating had accelerated weight loss.
If you’re not drinking enough water, dehydration can actually simulate hunger. Try drinking water instead of reaching for a snack and see how you feel afterward. This will not only help to keep you hydrated and your organs functioning, but it will also save you from all those extra added calories you’ve been reaching for.
You’re Overeating When it Comes to Healthy Foods
It’s definitely beneficial to eat healthy, that’s never a problem, but when you dip into the peanut butter multiple times per day, these healthy calories can add up quick and pack on the weight.
Try to control your portions and be mindful of your caloric intake, no matter if the foods you are eating are healthy or not-so-healthy. If you don’t burn off the excess calories, there will be no fat loss, but there will be fat gain.
You’re Cutting Fat out of Your Diet
For a while now, it has been drilled into our heads that fat will make us fat and that we should avoid it at all cost. Low fat this and fat free that is said to be the best choice, but that just isn’t the case. In fact, a diet that includes healthy nutritional fats such as from full fat organic dairy, avocados, nuts, seeds, eggs, grass fed beef, and other foods is sure to help you meet your fat loss goal.
It sounds weird, but by consuming these healthy fats, it will help you burn more fat by kicking your metabolism into high speed and keeping you more satisfied as well. Fat is much needed in so many processes in the body as well. It’s the delivery system for hormones, it’s the reason your brain functions, it helps you build muscle and it keeps your heart healthy. You Haven’t Cut Out or Limited Refined Sugar
Sugar is one of the worst ingredients you can possibly consume if you are trying to lose body fat and it may be one of the biggest diet mistakes that are making you fat!
Soda, candy, cakes, and other sweet treats are loaded with refined sugar. The average soda contains about 45 grams of sugar which is much more than one day’s allowance recommended by the AHA.
When you consume excess amounts of simple carbs (sugary foods), the glucose levels in the body will rise in a hurry.
Glucose in large amounts is toxic to the body so the body’s insulin levels will rapidly increase in order to get the glucose out of your bloodstream. The more this happens, the more your cells become resistant to the effects of the insulin so the pancreas will release more of it and eventually, things will start to not function so well and break down. This can lead to Type II Diabetes.
Insulin also has another function, which is to send the signal for fat to be relocated from our bloodstream and stored in our fat cells, and to not burn the fat that the cells already carry.
When your insulin levels continuously become elevated, most of the energy in your bloodstream will get stored in the fat cells. So it’s safe to assume that you can’t “burn off ” sugar, so it’s best to avoid it as much as possible.
You’re Not Keeping Track Of Your Calories
Counting calories is not an easy task and nobody enjoys doing it. But, you should always have a ballpark figure of how many you are consuming each day in order to prevent weight gain. If not, you’re doing more damage than any bad meal ever could and you’ll be succumbing to the diet mistakes that are making you fat
You don’t have to write down and add up every little bite, but you should be aware of the calorie amount in the basic foods that you eat regularly.
Snacking, large serving sizes and liquid calories such as juices and alcoholic beverages can really add up in a day’s time, so get an idea of what goes in your body and make the adjustment to cut out the excess so that you can be on your way to your desired weight.
