R. Lee Ermey Oscar Snub
Categories: Military, News

You know…we don’t watch the Oscars. We probably should…being somewhat of a news outlet and people across this nation obviously give a shit about the opinions of millionaires who play dress up for a living…we shouldn’t bash that, we talk shit for money so…in that respect it’s a wash. HOWEVER, to hear that R. Lee Ermey was snubbed in the remembrance portion of the Oscars…that just gives us even more reason to rewatch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the one from the ’90s) for roughly the 600th time in our lives.
The man was iconic in every way shape or form, doing everything he could to promote the Marine Corps in a positive light. He was an ambassador between two worlds and you can’t even remember that he passed away last April…for shame Hollywood, for shame, not that we really expected better of you. If you could just stop sexually assaulting people for five minutes, and remember an actor who devoted his life to increasing the understanding between our two very different worlds and give some respect where it’s due…yeah that’d be pretty cool.
R. Lee Ermey not only portrayed the infamous Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “Full Metal Jacket”, but he also took part in numerous other films/TV shows, as well as produced, and wrote! He was intimately involved! It’s not like people didn’t know who he was. It’s not like he was an extra in one movie once upon a time.
He was a part of the industry, he was one of you and you snubbed him. That’s ok, luckily, we, the Marine Corps, we don’t forget our own, we remember them and we’ll always remember him because he is one of us. It’s just sad that at the end of the day…all that cash, all that glam, all of it…and still zero class. Zero respect.
You know what, we changed our mind, we’re glad you didn’t remember him, we doubt he’d want to be a part of your “club”. R. Lee Ermey is one of ours and always will be.
And don’t think we didn’t see you snub Max Martini’s film, “Sgt. Will Gardner” as well. Damn movie was beautiful and after 20 years of war, not even a mention. Ungrateful snobs.

Damn straight once a Marine always a Marine
He was and still is one we remember in the antelope valley where he resided. He spent many hours with local clinics and hospitals…. he made all of us feel special and important. He told stories, he made sure we were ok. That means more to me than anything. I spent my time with with him. He is and was an influential part of my life. Im looking to start a whole new volunteer service because of him. He had such a huge impact on my life. Not from his movies….because of the person he is! I dont wish hollywood to know any of this because they arent important. I say this for people that knew who he is and the biggest heart he had. Fuck hollywood…..its become politics and agendas. Im not down for that. I support my local community and want to give back. He had an impact on that! He wasnt shown in the oscars tribute but you best believe we celebrated him here in the AV and we were his biggest supporters. Fuck hollywood.
A storm is coming. One that will effect every real American.
As we daily are witnessing disrespect towards the military, patriots, nationalists and the new born, it will not be much longer when all hell will break loose as the Democrats are already calling for a civil war if President Trump is re-elected.
If you have not exercised your Second Amendment rights by buying weapons and ammo for your own self protection do not expect others to do it for you when the day comes they have to exercise their right to protect themselves.
If you have no intent on protecting yourselves do not expect others to place their lives and families lives on the line for yours. However while your neighbors are “soldiering” to keep your community safe you better be damned well ready to sweat and labor in the fields in order to feed yourselves and supply those protecting you.
The guy was World famous and as a young British Royal Marine I remember watching him in Full Metal Jacket. Only recently have I become aware of all his other work – a true gentleman and a credit to the USMC. I agree with your comments – Hollywood isn’t the real World and never will be. I enjoy watching a good movie but don’t give a rat’s ass for what they all have to say on a night of mutual back-slapping! – I’m sure R Lee Emery will be 100% OK with being remembered by his military brother’s (Worldwide) and the USMC in particular. Long Live the Corp!! (USMC & RM)
Has American Grit reached out to the Oscars for an official statement of inquiry?
No.
