A Fort Bliss soldier, who recently went missing, has been found unharmed. The 27-year-old soldier, Oranda Moctezuma had disappeared under “mysterious circumstances.”
A missing persons case was opened April 4, 2021 on Oranda Moctezuma. However, the news release did not occur until today. Moctezuma had not been in contact with her family for several days. This raised concern for her wellbeing. Additionally, Moctezuma missed an accountability formation with her unit.
Then her vehicle was found abandoned, and it was discovered her personal effects were still inside. Although, authorities did not initially suspect foul play. No evidence in the car had suggested a struggle. However, they quickly began their search for Moctezuma.
The El Paso Police Department stated Moctezuma arrived at her home 3 p.m. this afternoon. Furthermore, tweeting that “Mrs. Moctezuma has returned to her residence and is safe and unharmed.”
The reason for her disappearance is unknown.
The Army has seen a wave of soldiers going missing recently. Some have been returned safely, others were not as fortunate. As you may remember, we reported on how there have been over 144 cases of missing, killed, and other servicemember related incidents in the last 4 years. The Army has not answered any of our requests for a statement regarding this.
