Federal policy has finally begun to acknowledge what warfighters, families, and clinicians have known for years. Alternative modalities work. Recent legislative movement signaled a major shift toward recognizing hemp derived CBD as a legitimate tool for pain, PTSD, seizures, and recovery, not a fringe workaround. For veterans and first responders, it represented real progress. But that progress is now under threat. A sweeping federal hemp restriction risks cutting off access to non intoxicating CBD products and pushing people back toward pharmaceuticals, opioids, or unregulated alternatives.
Today’s guest, Paige Figi, knows the cost of bad policy. Her fight to save her daughter Charlotte sparked a national movement and proved that plant based relief can change lives. Now, the same system that failed families once is poised to erase a decade of progress. Hosted by Tim Jensen, this episode of Gaslighting the Warfighter draws a clear line between intoxicating loopholes and legitimate therapies, and asks the question policymakers keep dodging. Who pays the price when access to real relief disappears.
What You Can Do Today
Buried deep in the federal spending bill was language banning nearly all hemp-derived products, even non-intoxicating CBD with trace THC.
This misguided move will:
- Eliminate up to 95% of the hemp industry
- Shutter thousands of small businesses and family farms
- Cut off millions from products they depend on
- Create an overnight national health crisis
Regulation is good. Prohibition is not. Veterans, seniors, children with epilepsy and autism, chronic pain patients—people who rely on hemp every day will suffer.

A War Cry for Change: The Revolution to Reclaim Veteran Mental Health
In our pursuit of supporting the mental health of military veterans, it has become increasingly evident that the overprescription of antidepressants, benzodiazepines and antipsychotic drugs to our Nation’s veterans has been causing harm, while safer solutions exist.
Grunt Style Foundation aims to address this issue head-on through the launch of its latest initiative: The War Cry for Change: A Revolution to Reclaim Veteran Mental Health. In partnership, Mad in America and Grunt Style Foundation have launched the Veteran Storytelling Campaign as part of GSF’s War Cry for Change and MIA’s Veteran and Military Family Initiative. Our goal is to help veterans, military families, and survivors share their experiences within the American mental health system and their encounters with being prescribed psychotropic medications.
